Here & There is a teleperformance organised by Sensorband [1]
and Les Virtualistes between Here & There theater in New York and a parisian loft.
A musician, Camel Zekri (guitarist free) and Les Virtualistes, in charge of cretaing the visuals and managing the connexion, were in Paris. Atau Tanaka & Edwin Van der Heide were in New York.

The concept is simple : produce an audio-visual show which creates itself in an intermediary space, between here and there, in a communicationnal spatio-temporal in-between, where artists meet and their performances intertwine. THis in-between materialises on the screen on both hands.

The interest of such a performance was, among other things, to realize what is today very obvious with our communication tools. The "elsewhere" exists much more than the "here". The distant virtual presence precedes the real one. In Paris, the manipulated images of Atau, Edwin, and the audiences on the projection screen have more flesh than Camel and its guitar. Our perceptive system carries out a shift, an inversion of reality plans occurs without us knowing it. And the in-between and all its emotionnal charge, are perfectly materialized and perceptible on both screens.

Les Virtualistes and SensorBand performed several times together. During Sonar Festival 1995 where the concert occurs between Barcelone and V2 Rotterdam where Edwin van der Heide played. And in 1996 where the performance was organised between Nancy, Gifu and Melbourne. Atau Tanaka & Les Virtualistes were at the Aye Aye Festival of Institut européen de cinéma et de l’audiovisuel, Zbigniew Karkowski in IAMAS and Christopher Coe (Digital Primate) in Melbourne.
